Quantum Computing for Energy Efficient Performant Computing
Quantum Computing (QC) is gaining widespread interest as technologies advance rapidly, particularly in what problems QC could address and how to realistically do so. Minimisation and search problems are known to hold promise for implementing on QC albeit with barriers such as implementing a complete scientific kernel & integrating with classical calculations, & how many qubits required.
My interests include:
- how QC could be used to perform computations with lower energy consumption than classical supercomputing solutions
- how to overcome barriers in the uptake of QC by industry
- how to best teach practical QC to UG & PG students and industry
I have a NERC "Exploring the Frontiers" bid under review for work applying QC to aerosol science.
